I did not understand how modernity and Islam could co-exist, and so I did not understand how I could possibly function. I love my faith, I get it, and I think it's awesome, but I felt shitty all the time, being a Muslim and questioning my sexuality, and not knowing how God could make me like this. I thought, for a time there, that I was this perverse spectacle created to show others how not to be. But you guys, the whole movement, you changed that. You gave me hope, you gave me a sense of community, and you will never know how much that means to me. So FINALLY, here are the questions: When you first started out, did you know you were on to something great? Did you think you would be changing lives and giving out hope like hard candy to people who didn't know what hope was before? Do you feel pressure at representing thousands of silent voices?
